Our second shoot of the year was certainly a huge success for all 60 that attended and enjoyed the extensive layouts at Purbeck Shooting School. Once again entrants travelled from as far afield as Shropshire & Cornwall to compete and enjoy the day put on by the Graham and his team. With several 100 meters of tarmac tracks & roads now constructed, all the layouts are easily accessed by either foot or golf buggy. Plenty of thought and preparation had obviously been employed prior to our shoot, with the FITASC layouts all geared to “new system”. This not only increased the array of targets, but ensured that all squads were kept flowing and on time and of course easily enabled government and CPSA guidelines to be adhered to.
With the calibre of guns that now enjoy our shoots together with the new entrants to the discipline, comments were that the shoot and targets were spot on. Nothing to beat you up or too extreme and certainly no gimmies – but plenty to think about with clever combinations.
Some superb shooting from 6 guns who all achieved scores in excess of 90 topped by Martin Reynolds with an impressive 95 to take high gun. Robert Taylor 93 shot another tremendous score to win ‘A’ class by a single target over last month’s high gun Martin Elworthy 92. Another excellent score was achieved by ‘B’ class winner Paddy Croft 91, pipping Patrick Langdon 90 in the same class again by a single target. ‘C’ class winners shared were Ken Haydock and John Mascall 79. Yet another impressive achievement was the score of Henry Miller 72 who not only won ‘D’ class but improved his ffc by + 24. However the most improved score of the day was that of James Donnelly scoring 66 and improving by + 25. Ensuring that the lower end achievements were equally as impressive as the top shooters.
