Our first shoot of 2021 was most certainly enjoyed by a full entry. The shooting ground at Pilton is fast becoming a place that everyone wants to shoot, proved easily as the entry was filled within 12 hours of the announcement and those who were lucky enough to have shot were certainly not disappointed. The effort and thought that was put in by Robin Heal was plain to see, those who had shot the registered FITASC just 6 days previously were again treated to a vast array of targets that were totally changed from the previous event. As always with events at the shooting ground, the day ran with out a hitch seeing the smooth flow of squads and layout changes as 49 competitors enjoyed the excellent event at Somerset Shooting Ground.
The testing four layouts proved difficult for many however a new name to our shoot – Martin Elworthy, made the trip from Cornwall to win the shoot by 6 targets with an impressive 95. Equally impressive was two ‘B’ class shooters, John Hatchard winning the class on 89 and Alan Bullock on 88, John also improving his classification by 18. Class ‘C’ was handsomely won on 76 by David Moss. Class ‘D’ created a battle between three with the honours shared on 59 between Kari Dobbs & Paul Nesbit-Bell.
High Gun – 95 Martin Elworthy.
Class A – 88 Martin Reynolds, 87 John Pool, 86 Sam Sawyer.
Class B – 89 John Hatchard, 88 Alan Bullock, 86 Dan Brain.
Class C – 76 David Moss, 70 Rob Aldous, 67 Chris Turvey.
Class D – 59 Kari Dobbs & Paul Nesbit-Bell, 57 Ryan White.
Most improved gun + 18 John Hatchard.

Next month we move to Purbeck Shooting School for our next round of FITASC, where Graham and Sam Brown have certainly made the most of lockdown. Following some major investment the ground has been revamped with areas expanded and new layouts constructed. Please note that the day has changed for this shoot only, being that it will be held on Wednesday 19th May. If you would like to join please book with me in the usual way – entry is now open.
Finally a huge thank you to Robin and Liana at Somerset Shooting Ground for a fantastic start to our season. Thanks also to all who took part in our first shoot of 2021 and not forgetting of course our sponsors Greenfields Guns at Salisbury for there very generous support and not forgetting Rob Allen for his work on the scores and leaderboard.
